The holidays are a time for family and community, and a time to express appreciation for one another.
This season is a powerful opportunity to transport people back to cherished moments from their past, creating a reservoir of happy memories. They are also a way to connect us all and help people to feel they are a part of something bigger than themselves.
This year, ImpEx and JVS are teaming up with a focus on the importance of giving back to the community in two ways.
The first is through our Holiday Giving Tree.
We are doing a hybrid local and virtual Tree this year. Our local tree includes hard-to-fulfill physical wish cards (older adults, individuals w/ special needs, older kids, etc.) Family Giving Tree tends to have a more difficult time getting gifts returned for these, so your commitment to help people in these communities goes a long way.

The Second is with Cancer CAREpoint, an organization that provides support to patients through outreach, resources, education, and support. More information can be found here – https://www.cancercarepoint.org/
We will be putting together CARE Kits. These kits include patient essentials like those they recommend below, plus a no-sew fleece blanket (made by volunteers) to keep warm in cold infusion rooms. Cancer is a personal journey, so they often add personalized items like a copy of The Cancer Diet Cookbook, a hand-knit hat (also made by volunteers), and handwritten notes of support.
These CARE Kits are delivered to infusion centers and the homes of patients in need of support during this challenging time.
- Recommended items to include are:
- Travel-sized tissue packs (unscented)
- Pair of warm, fuzzy socks in neutral colors
- Hand sanitizer (small bottles)
- Unscented body or hand lotion
- Lip balm (unflavored, no menthol)
- Adult coloring books
- Colored pencils + a portable pencil sharpener
- A hand-written note of support
